Vietnam, Dalat
We are in Dalat, Vietnam. “Dalat, also Da Lat (Đà Lạt), located in the South Central Highlands of Vietnam, was originally the playground of the French who built villas in the clear mountain air to escape the heat and humidity of the coast and of what was then called Saigon (now) officially known as Ho Chi Ming City” (more info can be found on http://wikitravel.org/en/Dalat).
Dalat is famous for the baguettes, fresh strawberries, local wine, coffee and tea plantations (try their artichoke tea), dry fruits, bakeries (love their éclairs), art galleries, and cute café almost in every building….
You can find even a mini Eiffel Tower and Moulin Rouge – Dalat is so French! The fruits and vegetables are fresh; the great restaurants are ready to serve you a delicious meal…
Where to live? There are so many different types of accommodation in Dalat. These are the pictures of our suite in a boutique hotel within a short walking distance to the main attractions.
What to do? There so many temples in and around Dalat. One of our favorite temples is Thien Vien Truc Lam. I hope you can see why.
Another temple, outside of Dalat, is Thánh thất Đà Lạt Thanh That (Oratories Da Phuoc , Cao Dai temple). This temple is not on the Tripadvisor’s list of the top attractions, therefore no tourists and you can enjoy the place alone.
There are also many waterfalls, parks, temples, and lakes. Dalat is the place for the nature lovers.
The locals are friendly and you can get affordable luxury at a fraction of the cost of other similar cities in the US or Europe.
Keep in mind, that just a few local people speak English, so you better learn a few words in Vietnamese or have your Google Translator ready.
Happy Travel, enjoy Dalat!
Looks great! You guys are visiting our favorite places. 04/16 we are leaving NJ for Vietnam and Cambodia. Our dream is to find a place for the early retirement abroad. Keep in touch.
