Salento, Puglia
After Rome we headed to Puglia. A long 9 hours/650 km drive and we are in Puglia (at the heel of Italy’s boot). This is a region in Southern Italy bordering the Adriatic Sea in the east, the Ionian Sea to the southeast and the Strait of Otranto and Gulf of Taranto in the south.
This is where Ionian and Adriatic Sea merge together.
Why did we go here? Well, it is getting cold in Rome and we never been there… why not?
We rented a beautiful 3 bedroom house just a few minutes from the Ionian Sea, and started exploring the Salento region.
After a short scenic drive along the cost we watched the sunset in a small town called Gallipoli…
After almost two weeks in our wonderful new place, located just 5 min from the beach on Ionian sea (St. Isidora, Puglia), we have to move on.
On a way to Alberobell, our next destination, we suddenly decided to stop in lovely port city Brindisi.
After a nice promenade around marina and a short drive, we took a detour for a swim in the Adriatic Sea. When you are not on a tide schedule, you can afford to explore the world!
