Detoxing Your Mind

Ready to report that we completed the prerequisite part of our early retirement life: the mind and body detox.  The previous posts tell about the body detox, now a few words about the “mind detox”.

As I mentioned earlier, we attended a 21 day workshop in the ashram. The goal of the workshop was a yogic practice, called the Nirahara Symyama, to free our mind from the many patterns that got created with food.

“Every human being associates his fears, greed, attention need and idea of love with food. All patterns associated with love and attention need are connected with food. Food is a very emotional zone. Now, when we are liberated from food and patterns created by food, the first thing that will happen, is the unnecessary emotions and sentiments associated with food will break.”

(Samyama means exploring and discovering your various possibilities and powers being centered on certain technique or spiritual process. Nirahara Samyama means exploring and discovering our body’s possibility without having any external input like food or water.)

Our bodies couldn’t live without food or water yet, therefore we were on a liquid diet for 21 days.

All juices, buttermilk and clear soups are allowed as a part of liquid diet. We just did not take anything that is chewable or solid during the practice.

After 21 days, we gracefully exit our practice with the food delivered from the 21 Vedic Temples.

The weight loss was not a primary goal, but we lost about 4-5 lb each.  (After some weight loss, if you do the practice properly, your bio memory is awakening, and you can produce the “food” from the natural resources like sun rays, air and the praana which is directly available to us from the space.

The before and after medical tests showed the improvements in some areas, like Vitamin D, hemoglobin, cholesterol, etc.  Besides, we feel more energetic, blissful, and grateful for every moment in our lives.

While appreciating the benefits of the Samyama, we continue to enjoy food offerings in Bangalore.

One of our friends took us out to Bablos, new Lebanese restaurant

The sample menu was carefully selected for us by Chief Ali: cheese sambusek & spinach fatayer,

hommus, mutabbal, tabbouleh, vine leaves, babaghanouj, falafel, mint lemonade, etc.

Wow! We were speechless!  The White Lebanese coffee (the hot water infused with the orange blossom essence) was a finishing touch to our gourmet dinner.
